I should have announced this much earlier but better late than never. I'm cancelling Part 3 of my REST Web Service Made Easy series because I no longer believe that the "Play Framework" is the best choice for future development. That was going to be the focus of Part 3.
Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with Play -- and, in fact it's a very powerful framework that offers asynchronous capabilities and more. I've just found that the Java Enterprise Edition, now officially open sourced as "Jakarta EE", is a much better all around tool. Java EE has really evolved and improved to the point where it can really do everything very well. Also, the Spring Framework has also evolved (especially Spring Boot, which is amazing!).
So I'll be covering those in the future. Stay tuned!
